Are you feeling pulled in many directions this holiday season? Are you feeling stressed out about the holidays? Well you’re not along.
It’s that time of year when many people shift gears and the holidays take center stage.
Often, the holiday season is not all comfort and joy. It can be a time of great emotional and physical stress.
Here are some suggestions for reducing stress so that you and yours enjoy the holiday season.
1- Take a break each day for yourself. Try mediation, prayer, a nap or read a book. Exercise go for a walk or do some yoga. These are ways of reducing stress and energizing the body.
2- Eat properly and drinks lots of water. Don’t use the holidays and stress as a reason to over-eat. Although the holidays bring with them sweet treats and extra appetizers, try not to make food the primary focus. And remember, just because someone offers you something, you do not have to accept.

This salad tastes great and is just in time for Thanksgiving. It’s also great as filler for those of us tempted to eat too much turkey! And it’s great for weight loss for those of us that eat a little too much over the holidays.
Serve this salad alone as a super food meal or serve it over cooked quinoa with a bean soup. If you plan to keep the salad for a few days in your refrigerator then wait to add the avocado to each individual serving. Feel free to add other seasonal vegetables to the salad. Grated carrots, grated beets, diced heirloom tomatoes, or chopped parsley would all be delicious.

Comments by Dr. Jeffrey Parham: I like learning about and sharing new ways of increasing brain power, health and wellness. I think Superbrain Yoga goes well with Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) given NSA improves brain computing power too! Superbrain Yoga® is a simple and effective technique to energize and recharge the brain. It is based on the principles of subtle energy and ear acupuncture. This powerful technique is explained in Master Choa Kok Sui’s latest book Superbrain Yoga®. Pilot studies on the effects of Superbrain Yoga® on school children include children with disabilities such as ADHD/ADD, developmental and cognitive delays, Down syndrome and specific learning disabilities. Children studied showed significant increase in academic and behavioral performance, greater class participation and improved social skills. In one study, the result of an electroencephalograph showed increased amplitude in the parieto-occipital region of the brain following the Superbrain Yoga®. This indicates increased brain electrical activity following the exercise. More studies on the effects of Superbrain Yoga® are being conducted.

When we set healthy boundaries we create new space for ourselves and an opening for connection with our personal power. Have an amazing day!
